Dear TRHS Parent/Guardian:
The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress, or CAASPP is a system intended to monitor student progress. This year, CAASPP includes computer adaptive tests in English–language arts and mathematics in grades 3-8 and an additional science component in grades 5 and 8.
TRHS will be participating in State Testing April 23rd– April 27th, 2018. Please ink this in on your calendar.
Reducing test-anxiety starts NOW! How parents contextualize the testing experience influences a student’s testing perception. Build confidence by staying positive!
Take some time to familiarize your student with the CAASPP computer format. The links listed below will help students learn how to navigate the style and presentation of questions as well as the different ways to respond. Students should practice TYPING and using a MOUSE.
To learn about the types of questions on the computer-based test, you and your child can view the practice test online at the California Department of Education (CDE) Smarter Balanced Practice Test Web pages at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/sa/practicetest.asp or http://www.californiatac.org/practice-and-training/index.html.
Select the guest user option and choose which subject and which grade you would like to practice!
Following the spring 2018 testing, students will receive individual score reports. Student score reports will be sent home to parents. It is important to note that this test is based on the Common Core State Standards.
If you would like more information, please visit the Parent/Student tab of the CDE CAASPP Web page at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/ca/
TRHS staff is available to assist in test prep and navigate any questions that come up. If you have any questions regarding your child’s participation, please contact Dr. Jaynie Aydin at Twin Ridges Home Study Charter School at 530-478-1815.
